ModArtists Gallery will present Sight/Unseen, another in the series of dual exhibitions that has become the gallery's signature. This time the exciting dialogue will showcase the works of artists Elle Schuster and Carmen Menza.
Our perception is entirely dependent on suggestion and presentation. Our understanding lies somewhere between the gulf of what is seen and what is experienced. The possibility of fully experiencing something is difficult, much less seeing it in its entirety. What we witness is often a simple piece or moment of a much more immense structure that extends beyond our comprehension.
Both Elle Schuster and Carmen Menza are multimedia artists that are exploring the extent of what can take place in space and time, and they both utilize different mediums to accomplish
a fuller understanding of an infinite string of possibilities. Nothing is what it appears - "it is what it is" but "that depends on what your definition of 'is' is." It's hardly a sinister conceit; it's an awed curiosity that has captured these artist's imaginations.
Following the opening reception, the exhibition will continue through April 20.
