Museum of Biblical Arts will present James Surls’ exhibit titled, ”Through the Thorn Tree.” The works of art in James Surls’ exhibition, “Through the Thorn Tree,” set the context of Surls’ life.

Born in East Texas, James Surls graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1966 and from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1968. After teaching at Southern Methodist University in Dallas from 1969 to 1976, he moved to Splendora, Texas and started his family. In 1997, Surls moved to Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. Along the road Surls made art and curated shows with the ferocity of a man possessed. His works have toured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as being in the collection of many amazing museums throughout the world.
