Celebrating its 150th Anniversary, The National Ballet of Ukraine will present one of its majestic spectacles, Sleeping Beauty, as part of its first-time American tour. The singular piece is a renowned world classic adapted by Ukrainian troupe in a unique style combining classic techniques with original dancing methods including signature lightness and grace of movements that create the impression of the dancers hardly touching the floor en pointe as if floating over the stage. This technique is the rightful heir of the old tradition Russian ballet. The ballet features elaborate choreography complemented by vivid costumes and scenery, Tchaikovsky’s glorious score, and a cast of fabulous characters.
