Houston gallerist William Reaves will present “Beyond the Dallas Nine: The Regionalist Legacy in Texas Art.” The discussion will trace the progressive evolution of regionalism in Texas art from the latter half of the 20th century through the present. Reaves will examine the regionalist themes and influences which distinguish Texas artists and sets their work apart as a unique brand of American painting.

The lecture is offered in conjunction with an exhibition of late 20th-century paintings entitled North Texas Recalled: The Painterly Chronicles of Jack Erwin. The exhibition will be on view at Turner House from February 21-28, and features over 50 paintings by the late Jack Erwin (1920 - 2009), noted Dallas artist and architect.
