Harvard Professor Tom Kelly considers a few of the perennial favorites in the classical repertory; they will all probably be familiar. The question is to try to understand what makes something stick in our memory, what makes us like and remember a piece of music, and what there is about these pieces that is special. In the course of the session we will also consider pieces that possibly should, but usually don’t make the list of all-time favorites, and ask ourselves, why?
