Opera in Concert presents A Night in Berlin featuring Kurt Weill’s and Bert Brecht’s Mahagonny Songspiel (1927) and Boris Blacher’s Die Flut (1946), two mid-century German operas sung in English.
The evening will feature the jazzy opera that created a riot when it premiered in 1927. Also on the bill is a tense psychological drama of four characters trapped by the tide on a half-sunken wreck.
Featured performers include Rachel Catlett, Gabrielle Gilliam, Stephanie Smittle, Steven Brennfleck, Doug Brunker, Edward Crafts, Joshua Hughes, John Kuether, with Stephen Dubberly directing from the keyboard.
