Pappas Bros. Steakhouse presents Altare Wine Dinner

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse will present an evening celebrating Altare wines. Considered by many to be one of the top winemakers in Barolo, Elio Altare was a true pioneer in bringing Piedmont wines to the global wine scene. His daughter (and now owner of the winery), Silvia Altare, will guide guests through some of the family’s top bottlings. This will be an evening of history, progress and some of the best wine Barolo has to offer.

Dinner Menu:  

Hors d’oeuvres

  • Lassaigne “Les Vignes de Montgueux” Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs NV (from magnum)

First Course:

  • Steamed Clams & Crispy Pancetta
  • white wine, shallots, garlic, chive toasted ciabatta
  • 2009 Campogrande Cinqueterre Bianco

Second Course:

  • Wild Mushroom Ravioli
  • beurre noisette, sage
  • 2006 Elio Altare Barolo
  • 2012 Elio Altare Barolo

Third Course:

  • Barolo Braised Rabbit
  • dried fruit, cracked red peppercorn, thyme, spring pea & leek purée
  • 2007 Elio Altare Barolo Cerretta
  • 2008 Elio Altare Barolo Cerretta

Fourth Course:

  • 75 Day Dry-Aged Strip Loin
  • roasted baby potatoes & pearl onions, Italian parsley, natural meat jus
  • 2012 Elio Altare Barolo Arborina
  • 2012 Elio Altare Barolo Giaborina

Fifth Course:

  • Selection of Italian Cheese
  • taleggio, ricotta salata, parmesan, dark chocolates
