RETREET will host a screening of Can You Dig This to kick off Rowlett RETREET, an effort to replant lost trees in the wake of the devastating tornado that struck Rowlett last year.
The film, hosted in partnership with Earth Day Texas as part of the TEDxSMU Film Series, features Ron Finley, the world-famous Gangsta Gardener, who works to educate and empower residents of South Central L.A. to plant their own food. Mr. Finley, who will be in attendance, envisions a world where gardening is gangsta, where cool kids know their nutrition, and where communities embrace the act of growing, knowing, and sharing the best of the earth’s fresh-grown food.
