The Sammons Center for the Arts lets the good times roll with New Orleans-style jazz and good ole Dixieland when the Fredrick Sanders Quartet and N’awlins Gumbo Kings kick off the Spring 2014 season of Sammons Jazz. Saxophonist Quamon Fowler, bassist Edwin Livingston and drummer Adonis Rose join pianist Fredrick Sanders on stage for a salute to the Crescent City. The second set features the N’awlins Gumbo Kings who, as their name suggests, bring Dixieland and the sounds of Mardi Gras to DFW. The stellar group of musicians includes Steve Howard on trumpet, Brian Piper on piano and vocals, Mike Sizer on sax, clarinet and vocals, Tony Baker on trombone, Carl Hillman on bass, and Mike Drake on drums.
Tickets include beverages, a light meal and valet parking. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the performance begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. Each performance features two sets of about an hour each with an intermission between sets.
