Samuel Lynne Galleries will present Tyler Shields' new exhibition, "No Filter." The exhibition run will feature photographs from his latest Fairytale, Lion, and Chicago series, as well as a collection of floral still-life photographs inspired by Irving Penn’s work, and a collection of Shields’ personal favorites from his Dirty Side of Glamour and Provocateur series.
With this collection, Shields has once again secured recognition and attention as an artist who urges audiences, when confronted with an unfamiliar style, to expand their appreciation for photography and welcome his genre of controversy. He has explored different techniques to capture the details of fabrics, pigments, colors, and textures, in the most vivid way using trial & error. He is introducing the viewer to the invaluable concepts of photography, the complexity of the science & technology and the talent and risk of both the subjects and photographer. Yet, he somehow maintains a visible effortlessness in his work; emphasizing that photography remains what it has always been – a tool for the creativity of the artist.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through November 2.
