In observance of 9/11 and International Peace Month 2019, Sangeet Millennium, in collaboration with the Dallas Peace and Justice Center, presents the Fourth Annual Declare World Peace Celebration of Global Music, Dance, and Poetry.

In remembrance of the dark chaos due to terrorism, war, intolerance, hate, fear, polarization of people, and environmental calamity occurring both globally and locally, all the artists who perform in this concert will collectively seek to create and hold a space of love, respect, tolerance, safety, and positive change. This family-friendly event, the final one of Sangeet Millennium’s 2019 “South Asian Music for the World Series” is sponsored by the Dallas Peace and Justice Center and supported in part by a grant from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.

This multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multilingual concert features the critically acclaimed Indo-jazz-world fusion project Sangeet Millennium Ensemble, founded in 2006 and led by Dallas-based sitarist Amie Maciszewski, with members from Dallas, Austin, and India. They will collaborate with an international cast of expert performers including musicians from nations with which the United States is in conflict such as Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Yemen and Somalia.
