Savvy Women Series: Bags and Bundt will feature guest speaker Abbey Curran, Miss Iowa 2008, a delicious lunch, a silent auction of gently used purses and plenty of networking opportunities.

Curran was the first state winner, representing Iowa, in the Miss USA Pageant who has dealt with a special challenge her entire life.  Born with Cerebral Palsy, Abbey grew up on a farm and dedicated her life to proving that no challenge or limitation is great enough to stop her from achieving her dreams.

Not only has Abbey successfully placed in more than five pageants, she also took the life lessons she learned and created her very own non-profit pageant for young girls and women with special needs and challenges. The Miss You Can Do It Pageant is now in its tenth year.  In the summer of 2013, HBO launched a summer documentary series, showcasing the Abbey’s Miss You Can Do It Pageant, bringing awareness and understanding to the general public.

The proceeds from this event benefits Ability Connection Texas. Ability Connection Texas (ACT) empowers individuals to live the best life possible by removing barriers that inhibit independence and autonomy.
