As an attempt to promote and present Iranian art and culture in the international community, AramArt Culture and Art Institute is presenting the Sheed Film Festival, the first Persian film festival in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The festival will feature nine Iranian films produced in recent years.

The term “sheed “ is an old Persian word meaning a light from above; an illumination coming from the sky. Persian cinema, and especially Iranian cinema, has been witnessing the emergence of several young and admirably ambitious directors during the past decade. A mixture of young and experienced directors and a different look at the basic elements of cinema has made Iranian movies have a brilliant performance on the international scene.

Selected Films (All films in Farsi with English subtitles)

  • Confessions of My Dangerous Mind
  • Death of a Fish
  • Fish & Cat
  • I'm Not Angry
  • I Want to Be a King
  • Nahid
  • The Paternal House
  • Wednesday, May 9th
  • With the Others
