The South Dallas Cultural Center’s resident theater company, Soul Rep, will kick off their 10/20 Anniversary season with The Colored Museum by George C. Wolfe. This satirical play about race and black culture debuted in the New York Public Theater in 1986.
This production is composed of 11 exhibits of bold and electrifying commentary on being Black in America. The pieces brilliantly explore the Black experience in America – from the Middle Passage to molestation; from caricature to culture; from identity to insanity. Wolfe’s satire is full of imagery and characters that entertain and enlighten, as well as deliberately delight and disturb audiences.
