The South Dallas Cultural Center wraps up its Black Pain/Black Power theater season with The Burnin' by Cristal Chanelle Truscott.
This drama will thrust you in the midst of two tragedies that occurred in Natchez, Mississippi in 1940 and Chicago, Illinois in 2003. The journey spans two different eras that are both set in popular nightspots that quickly became death traps. The Burnin' uses music and poetry to take us into the world of dirty politics and the complexities of race, gender and community during times of survival.
