St. Andrew United Methodist Church invites the community to share in the joy of Christmas music at its 11th annual Christmas program, A St. Andrew Christmas: Pops. The concert is a merry and family-friendly celebration of favorite Christmas carols, both secular and sacred in a bubbly pops-style sound. The concert also provides a special place to reflect on the true meaning of the season.
St. Andrew choirs, from children to adults; world-renowned British Vocal Ensemble VOCES8; Organist Dr. Jonathan Gregoire and a full professional orchestra will perform timeless Christmas musical selections including John Williams’ “Merry Christmas,” Randol Bass’ “Gloria,” Mannheim Steamroller’s “Silent Night,” Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time Is Here,” plus the music of John Rutter, Gary Fry, Barlow Bradford, and Taylor Davis.
Established worldwide as premier a cappella vocalists, VOCES8 tours extensively throughout Europe, North America and Asia. With an ongoing program of recordings and live broadcasts, VOCES8 is heard regularly on international television and radio. The choral group will spend the week prior to the concert in Plano performing and working with students in area schools on the fundamentals of music as well as on pieces the students are preparing for concerts contests.
