Sun to Moon Gallery presents Alison Shaw: A Colorful Palette opening reception

eventdetail

Off the south coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, lies Martha’s Vineyard, where award-winning photographer Alison Shaw has lived and worked since 1975. The island has provided the inspiration and subject matter for much of her photography. In recent years she has been fascinated by abstracting the scenes before her, using her camera to literally paint with light, with movement of the camera creating gorgeous, evocative swaths of color.

This new exhibition celebrates the cycle of Alison’s creative work, featuring crisp, clear, saturated images, tranquil, ethereal seascapes, and variations thereof. From boldly graphic abstracts to mystical seascapes to fascinating boat detail studies to her artist’s studios series – Alison’s colorful, contemporary and organic prints are visually stunning, beautiful to behold, and unique relative to the other photographers’ print styles.

Friendly to collectors and non-collectors alike, Alison’s vibrant prints hang easily in contemporary spaces. Nineteen books featuring her photography have been published and thousands of her original fine art prints are in public and private collections.

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through June 11. There will also be a three-day, in-the-field day photography workshop workshop with Alison Shaw & Scot Miller from May 19 to 21 where they will be teaching “Expressive Digital Photography.”
