As part of the Yosemite at 150: A Photographic Celebration exhibition, Sun to Moon Gallery will present a Gallery Talk and "Ansel Adams: In Focus" presentation with Alan Ross. Ross was Ansel Adams' photographic assistant from 1974-1979 and still the exclusive printer of Ansel Adams negatives for the Ansel Adams Trust.
In “Ansel Adams: In Focus,” Ross paints a picture of the legendary artist as only someone who worked side-by-side with him can. Using his own personal photographs of Adams working in the field, in the darkroom and at home, personal notes and letters from master to apprentice, anecdotes and recollections from his nearly six years as Adams’ full-time photographic assistant, Ross shares his experiences of the artist, mentor and friend.
There will also be a Fine Print Viewing for Collectors with Ross at 3 pm on May 23 and May 24. These viewings are limited to six people per session, so advance reservations are encouraged. In addition to the Yosemite prints hanging in the exhibition, guests will get to go into the back room to view other prints by Ross, including several prints that he is bringing to town especially for this event.
