The Table Co/Lab will present their inaugural season opener Beyond Perfection, a new musical by local writers Kenady Sean, Emily Horton, and Kaylee Killingsworth and in co-production with Oh Look Performing Arts Center and Kenady Sean Productions.
Beyond Perfection is a dystopian, sci-fi musical that begins in 2038. The internet is gone, and the United States is no longer united. Perfection LLC has bought New York and developed the Empire. In the Empire, you live in your own perfect virtual reality, where you live a life completely customized to your every whim.
Chandler, a female reporter from Texas who wants to make a name for herself, goes to the Empire in the hopes of writing the next front-page story. Chandler soon discovers that the real story is what’s behind perfection. Madame President, the owner of Perfection LLC, has taken the technology too far in the name of peace. Chandler and the rebels must fight against her and her technology, so that they can tell the world that true peace can only be found Beyond Perfection.
With intentional collaboration and sweeping community change in mind, The Table Co/Lab founders Chris Sanders, Caroline Rivera, and Sarah Powell seek to foster a creative space where underrepresented members of the Dallas arts community can develop their work and share their stories. Each member of the all-female/non-binary leadership team has deep roots in the Dallas arts community.
