With a mission to promote, support and connect Texas women in the arts, Texas Vignette will present its 5th annual Vignette Art Fair. The two-day juried event will feature 89 works of art by 47 women artists hailing from 23 cities representing Texas’ deep-rooted cultural terrain – from Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston, to Abilene, Austin and Nacogdoches.
Founded in 2017 by Jessica Ingle, Texas Vignette works to close the gender disparity gap as female artists are not nearly as represented in museum exhibitions, acquisitions and galleries compared to their male counterparts. Vignette Art Fair is among the only fully submission-based art fairs in the world that solely features the work of women artists where 100% of all sales go directly to the artists.
Curated by Emily Edwards, associate curator at Dallas Contemporary, Vignette Art Fair 2023 showcases everything from mixed media, embroidered art and sculptures to paintings, photography, sculptures and performance art. The 2023 juried artists are Leticia Alaniz, Lesley Anderson, Jessica Baldivieso, Jacqueline Blanco, Victoria Brill, Laura Briseno, Brianna Burnett, Melanie Clemmons, Eden Collins, D’Lynda Crossett, Claire Cusack, Aubree Dale, Laura Davidson, Ariel Davis, Sarah DePetris, Emilie Duval, Erica Felicella, Jennifer Gassiraro, Danielle Georgiou, Melisa Gerecci, Marciella Giovino, Danié Gómez Ortigoza, Michelle Cortez Gonzales, Maria Haag, Candace Hicks, Jessica Hilvitz, Sara Lee Hughes, Felicia Jordan, Julie Libersat, Claudia Maysen, Tina Medina, Cher Musico, Natalia Padilla, Alexis Phillips, Anna Redman, Joy Reyes, Cat Rigdon, Kathy Robinson-Hays, Brady Sloane Duncan, Shelley Smolen, Sarah Sudhoff, Liz Trosper, Suzanne Truex, Hallee Turner, Lana Waldrep Appl, Holly Lyn Walrath, and Donna Zarbin-Byrne.
The evening will feature live performance works, meet-and-greets with the artists and curator, music by DJ Wild in the Streets, an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres.
