The music of Ravel’s Bolero using South African a cappella voices as a musical device creates the incredibly powerful score. A cathartic, yet uplifting and remarkable work, CION: Requiem of Ravel’s Bolero is a hauntingly beautiful and moving exploration of grief, struggle and relief.

A requiem that awakens the connection to the departed souls, CION: Requiem of Ravel’s Boléro, draws inspiration from creations by two artists: the character Toloki in South African author Zakes Mda’s novels Cion and Ways of Dying and music from French composer Maurice Ravel’s Boléro.
