Dallas is facing major mobility and transportation challenges, ranging from I-30 congestion, to the disposition of IH-345, to toll roads being planned and built throughout Dallas. While there has been much discussion and debate in recent months, any comprehensive solution that factors in the economics, social, and environmental impacts of transportation has been elusive.
To begin to address this, AIA Dallas and the Greater Dallas Planning Council are hosting a transportation summit aimed at building broader professional and public awareness and discourse of the topic so all stakeholders can make more informed decisions going forward.
The event will begin Thursday evening at The Magnolia Theatre with keynote speaker Jeffrey Tumlin (author of “Sustainable Transportation Planning”, renowned transit expert and TED speaker) and a reception.
The Summit will continue all day Friday at Latino Cultural Center with various speakers, including national expert and Harvard School of Design professor Alex Krieger, FAIA and local constituents ranging from architects and urban planners to neighborhood leaders; environmentalists; elected and appointed city officials; transportation, development and real estate experts; and next-generation civic activists.
