The Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts will present Gabe Ritter as part of its Fall Salon Series. Ritter, the Nancy and Tim Hanley Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, will present “Notes on Contemporary Art:  The Challenge of the New.” He will discuss a current exhibit at the DMA: the Concentrations series (#56) featuring Stephen Lapthisophon, also a resident of Oak Cliff. This is the first U.S. museum solo show for Lapthisophon, who is legally blind, and is the first DMA show devoted to a legally blind artist. It features his unique works on paper (often using basic food materials) and architectural elements inspired by his studio space.
