Siona Benjamin is a painter, originally from Bombay, India, and now living in New York, whose multi-media works reflect her complex cultural background and her desire to contribute to a re-evaluation of concepts of identity and race toward mutual understanding.
The selected paintings and installations that will be on exhibit in the UNT Art Gallery cover a decade of artistic expression from 2004-2014 and reveal Benjamin’s continuing exploration into physical and religious identities, place, and notions of belonging. This exhibition was organized with Lisa Owen and Jennifer Way, CVAD Art History Program.
