Uptown Players will present a one-day only special event, HAM: The Show, written and performed by Sam Harris.

Harris has enjoyed a highly successful multi-faceted career, first as the original “American Idol” on Star Search, then as a Tony nominated Broadway star, platinum recording artist, sell-out concert artist, popular television actor, talk show favorite and writer for television and the stage.

Sam had the idea of creating a new format for HAM: The Show – a hybrid theatrical show in which stories from the book are read, artfully interspersed with relatable songs from his classic repertoire. Sam’s first book, a humorous and often poignant collection of stories and essays, entitled HAM: Slices of a Life, will be on sale at the event through a special arrangement with Half-Price books. In it, Harris delivers a mixture of tales touching on everything from his childhood, growing up gay in rural Oklahoma, to his celebrity life, including BFF Liza Minnelli and others, to his role as husband and father.
