Hundreds of elite “pullers” are set to descend for the World Armwrestling League’s 2016 Southern Regional Championship. These men and women are soldiers, firefighters, bankers, engineers, teachers, and stay-at-home parents. But they’re all united in their love of pulling and their desire to be the best. They spent the year battling through WAL Qualifier tourneys across North America to earn an invite to Dallas.
If they survive this sweaty, chalk-handed gauntlet, they’ll ice their biceps and head to Las Vegas for the WAL 2016 Championships on ESPN this summer. There, they will battle the best from the Northern and European Regionals and pull for their piece of the six-figure prize money pool.
Pro arm-wrestling is an extremely intense and exciting live event. It’s also a welcoming environment for anyone down to hoist some daybeers and spend an afternoon watching America’s next big thing.
