The Stan Lee Foundation, the Dallas Public Library, and For Love and Art are teaming up to celebrate art in an unique and fun way with the We Heart Art: Creating New Worlds Art Celebration & Auction. This family-friendly event incorporates museum art, student scholarships, comic-book culture, Cosplay, table-top gaming, video game design, and creative industry professionals.
The organizations are also asking 7th through 12th grade students to create their own original artwork for a chance to win scholarship money. A select number of pieces will be on display at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. A panel of local artists, celebrities and industry professionals will then choose the top three winning pieces.
Scholarships of $1500, $1000, and $750 will be presented to the top three winners during the Creating New Worlds: Art Celebration & Auction on November 7 at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. The first place piece will be included in The Stan Lee Foundation’s Art Auction which will benefit the local nonprofit, For Love & Art, and will also feature donated pieces by professional artists. In addition, the winner is invited to take part in the Live Sketch Challenge with professional artists, all taking place during the event.
There will also be various guest panels, an artist alley to showcase their work, workshops, an indie film showcase, food trucks, and the Visit Dallas B&G sign will be onsite for photos.
