Dallas-based literary nonprofit, WordSpace, will present Dallas Lit Hop, a series of spring events spanning the month of April with two very special events that bookend the month. Dallas Lit Hop kicks off with a party that includes spoken word, theatrical, and musical performers. Throughout the month there will be parties, performances, readings, film programs, kids’ workshops, and panels held in venues across Dallas.
To kick off this year’s Lit Hop celebration, Deep Ellum Art Co. will host a party on Saturday, April 7. Local experimental theater company Dead White Zombies will premiere new work alongside appearances by spoken word performers. Starting at 9 pm, WordSpace and Deep Ellum Art Co. will welcome legendary Dallas performer Mark Griffin to the stage. This classically trained musician-turned-rapper and experimental musician performs as MC 900 Ft. Jesus.
To end Lit Hop with a bang, one of the most versatile and admired writers in America today will be presented during a special event on Sunday, April 29 at The Kessler starting at 8 pm. Author of more than 43 critically acclaimed books and 2016 Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America, Walter Mosley’s work ranges from literary fiction, science fiction, political monographs and a young adult novel to live, performative social commentary.
