The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth will present David Axelrod, who will talk about his book Believer: My Forty Years in Politics. Axelrod has a career description that belongs only to him. In the wake of one successful senate campaign and two winning presidential campaigns with Barack Obama, Axelrod later served as a senior advisor to the president. But Axelrod's career did not begin in politics. He first worked as a reporter and columnist for the Chicago Tribune. After eight years of writing about the corruption and nuances of Windy City politics, Axelrod became a campaign consultant.

Believer tells the story of his journey from Chicago campaigning to the lofty challenge of presidential politics. His recollections and analysis of Chicago politics explain how the end of the traditional machines made way for the rise of Obama to senator and beyond.
