Zhulong Gallery will present a solo exhibition by artist Lauren Woods. Woods will present new work and selected projects from her recent practice to mount a dynamic exhibition including video, works on paper, and traditional pieces.
A noteworthy conceptual artist working in both the public realm and institutional spaces, Woods follows her successful intervention, Dallas Drinking Fountain #1, a multi media 'monument' situated in the Dallas Records Building, with an exhibition that typifies her highly relational body of work.
Continuing to explore subject and object through the lens of color, multi-channel video works, ongoing since 2000, works on paper and sculpture set up scenarios for viewership that reverberate from the works' content and out into the viewers individual experience of the present. A forceful feedback loop plays out between viewership as subject matter and the encounter of the works. Redacted stills, collaged film clips, and other methods of assemblage and erasure are creative interventions on found moving images and other forms of visual culture, shifting or adding to the construction and picturing of the other.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through January 24.
