Living Set Decorations
Dallas Theater Center seeks gender-bending extras for upcoming Rocky Horror Show
Dallas Theater Center is hoping to have a campy good time with its upcoming 2014-2015 season opener, The Rocky Horror Show, and it's now looking for a select few to be "living set decorations" during the show.
Specifically, the DTC is looking for "gender-benders, the glamorously tattooed, sword and fire swallowers, snake charmers, the unique, the bizarre, the unorthodox, the oh-my-goodness-I-can’t-believe-they-just-did-that-performer" to be extras to help set the proper mood for each performance.
While anyone is welcome to apply, it's important to note that the parts will not be part of the actual cast, i.e. no singing or dancing will be asked for or required, and they will be unpaid.
Instead, DTC is searching for anybody who's ever dreamed of having the best seat in the house during a performance of The Rocky Horror Show, which runs September 11-October 19.
Eight performers 21 or older will be selected, with four taking part in each show. DTC will hold an open casting call on Saturday, July 26 from 3-4 pm at the Wyly Theatre, although those who act fast can reserve one of 50 early audition slots by e-mailing Laura Colleluori at Laura.Colleluori@DallasTheaterCenter.org. E-mails should include your name, age, phone number and a brief description of your talent or look.
All others can sign up for auditions on the day of the open call on a first come, first served basis at 2:45 pm. DTC will provide the music during auditions, but props and costumes are highly encouraged. Everyone trying out will only have one minute to impress director Joel Ferrell, so you'd better make it count.
