Trump's In Town
Donald Trump visits Dallas for $50,000-per-person fundraiser
With little to no warning, our own President Donald Trump is in Texas on May 31, with visits set for Houston and Dallas.
The president flew into Houston on Thursday morning to offer condolences to the families of victims of the May 18 shooting at Santa Fe High School, where 23 people were shot and 10 were killed.
According to Patch.com, Trump was met in Houston by Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Attorney General Ken Paxton before moving to a private hangar to meet with the families.
He follows the meetup with a fundraising luncheon in Houston, then flies to Dallas for another fundraiser.
In Dallas, the fundraiser is hosted by RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and National Finance chairman Todd Ricketts, whose invitation says, "Cordially invite you to an evening with Donald J. Trump, President of the United States."
There are three possible events a Trump fan can attend:
- A dinner with "limited" seating that's available on a first-come first-serve basis. Tickets are $35,000 per person, or $50,000 per couple. Discount for two. That's the best deal — get yourself a spouse and make it a date.
- Dinner with VIP seating and a photo opportunity. For that much up-close and personal, tickets are $50,000 each or $100,000 per couple. No discount, sowee.
- For the budget-minded, there's an after-dinner reception that's a real bargain at $2,700 per person. Which is an odd amount. It's like they thought, "Well, $3,000 is too high, but $2,500 is too much. $2,700 it is." Although, honestly, if you're doing $2,700, might as well go to $2,750, a rounder number.
The invitation reveals no start time or location. Someplace in the Park Cities probably, but you can only get those hush-hush details when you RSVP to TXevents@gop.com. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for Secret Service SUVs.
