Dallas gets double dose of Trump with President and Ivanka visits
October is Trump month for Dallas, as the two most prominent members of the family will be making local appearances, including the president himself.
On October 3, Ivanka Trump will be in Dallas to host a roundtable with Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.
A White House official tells WFAA that the topic will be "preparing American workers for the 21st-century economy and the emerging industries of the future."
Others at the roundtable include José Adames, president of El Centro College; Joe May, chancellor of Dallas County Community College District; and Walter Bumphus, president/CEO at American Association of Community Colleges.
The location of the roundtable has not been announced, but students at El Centro College have been informed that there's a huge event taking place that is requiring the college to close down parts of campus.
"We have a special announcement event taking place at our college on October 3," says the El Centro announcement. "Due to our location serving as host location, we will need to close most of the first floor. The first floor will re-open in the afternoon."
The closures at the college will begin on Wednesday (October 2) afternoon.
Ivanka is co-chair of an organization called the National Council for the American Worker to retrain workers needed in high-demand industries. In addition to the roundtable, she and Pichai will make an announcement during the Thursday event in Dallas. Maybe something about retraining workers.
Separately, President Trump is hosting a campaign rally at American Airlines Center on October 17.
