Some like it hot
Bikram Yoga Dallas opens second sweat-worthy studio in Uptown
Hot yoga fans now have a new place to sweat. Bikram Yoga, the first and largest studio dedicated to the practice, opens the doors on a new location in West Village on Friday, November 16.
Houston natives Karen and David Buckner opened Bikram Yoga on Mockingbird Lane in late 2003, where their students sweat and stretch it out in a 90-plus-degree room — pushing their bodies into positions they never thought possible.
In addition to classes, expect beginner’s workshops, posture clinics and trunk shows. Plus the studio has Dallas-based Holy Kombucha on tap.
Certified Bikram instructors continue that tradition at the new spot in Uptown, located above Max’s Wine Dive. The studio has a lounge for relaxing before and after class, state-of-the-art heating system, hypoallergenic flooring, valet parking, and showers. Sunlight streams into the studio during the day; at night, practitioners get views of the Dallas skyline.
Bikram Yoga West Village also plans to host monthly studio events, beginner’s workshops, posture clinics and trunk shows. Plus the studio has Dallas-based Holy Kombucha on tap.
Kombucha, a fermented tea, has long been popular among the hippie and yoga crowds, especially on the West Coast. Recently, it’s entered the mainstream and can be found at local bars such as Meddlesome Moth.
