Dallas record label Idol Records will release For You, the debut album from Dead Flowers, a rock-country-Texas blues band noted for its gritty live performances at clubs such as LaGrange and DoubleWide. The album comes out April 16.
The band, whose lineup consists of singer-guitarists Vince Tuley and Corey Howe, guitarist Tony Webb, bassist Evan Johnson, and drummer Ed Chaney, produced the album themselves. Part of their funding came from a month-long Kickstarter campaign, which raised $7,575.
Mixed by Jeffrey Charles Saenz at his Modern Electric Sound Recorders, For You was designed to capture the band's tough live-performance sound and eschews any studio-induced decoration: no overdubs, no instruments on the record that you don't see onstage.
The release show is April 20 at Three Links in Deep Ellum.
