Movie Time
This is the best way to spend Wednesday nights in Uptown Dallas
UPDATE: Due to inclement weather the South Alley Film Series has been rescheduled for April 27.

After a hugely successful four-week program in fall 2015, West Village is again partnering with the Dallas Film Society for the newly expanded South Alley Film Series. It launches April 20 with The Princess Bride andruns every third Wednesday through October.
Inconceivable? We think not!
Free to the public, the unofficial motto of the South Alley Film Series is “the more the merrier.” And what could be merrier than lounging on beach chairs in West Village’s South Alley, watching classics such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Goonies, and sipping a Mambo Taxi from Mi Cocina or a glass of wine from Cru Wine Bar?
“West Village is an anchor in the Uptown community, and we love seeing South Alley packed with movie fans enjoying a fun, free night out,” says Julius Pickenpack, director of marketing for West Village Management Company. “The series has really generated an enthusiastic response from the neighborhood, and West Village businesses are rolling out the red carpet with drink and food specials.”
Get there early enough, and you could score a patio table at Cru, Mi Cocina, or Taco Diner. The movies are shown on a 120-foot inflatable screen going up under the billboard, easily seen from any of them. Live entertainment from local musicians and DJs starts at 7 pm, and the films roll at 8:30.
Even if you can’t get that coveted patio table, you can bring your own blanket or beach chair and buy from the nearby restaurants. Cru has a satellite bar for wine to go and delivers food to your seat. Mi Cocina not only has the roll-out bar, but also accepts takeout orders in front of the patio. And, of course, the Magnolia Theatre offers popcorn, drinks, and candy upstairs.
“It’s a fun, casual atmosphere at the film series, and we anticipate a strong turnout with our lineup this year. We’ve got a lot of great classics,” Pickenpack says. “The Princess Bride will be a big crowd-pleaser to kick off the film series.”
