Comedy Gurrl
Kathy Griffin returns to Dallas to get down and dirty at Majestic Theatre
Although Kathy Griffin is a well-respected comedian with many years in the business, she's not above getting down and dirty with the best of them, as she'll show in a return visit to Dallas when she performs at the Majestic Theatre on Thursday, June 25.
Griffin is a comedy-album machine, putting out one a year for the past seven years, including 2014's Look at My Butt Crack. Although she didn't get nominated for a Grammy for that one, she had been nominated the previous six years running, culminating in her first-ever win in 2014 for Best Comedy Album for Calm Down Gurrl.
That win was noteworthy in that she became only the third female comedian to win the award, behind legends Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.
Griffin, of course, has established her bona fides well beyond the stand-up circuit. She co-starred in the late '90s sitcom Suddenly Susan, won two Emmys for her Bravo reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and has co-hosted CNN's New Year's Eve special with Anderson Cooper since 2007.
But it's still stand-up for which Griffin is best known, especially because she holds the Guinness World Record for most televised stand-up specials with 20.
Tickets for Griffin's Dallas gig go on sale on Friday, May 1, at 10 am. You can buy tickets online at AXS.com or charge by phone at 888-929-7849.
