Alamo Drafthouse divulges location for third Dallas-area movie theater
Less than two months after announcing its second location near downtown Dallas, Alamo Drafthouse DFW has revealed plans for a third, as part of the forthcoming Music Factory complex in Irving.
That complex is set to break ground near Irving Convention Center on Saturday, August 30, where, not-so coincidentally, Alamo will hold a Rolling Roadshow screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas will have all of the signature features of the other Alamo locations, including state-of-the-art auditoriums, 35mm projectors for viewing classic films, in-theater dining and more. There will also be a second-floor lounge and patio.
The new Las Colinas theater represents a first for Alamo in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, because it'll be part of a larger entertainment complex, something Alamo COO Bill C. DiGaetano couldn't be more excited about.
"Being a part of an entertainment-specific development is a perfect fit," DiGaetano said in a statement. "Each Alamo is unique to the community it serves; co-tenants like the 8,000-seat amphitheater, extraordinary restaurants, the bowling center and other entertainment venues give us opportunities to create incredible events for our guests at the theater or with a neighboring venue."
The Music Factory in Las Colinas, being developed by Charlotte, North Carolina-based ARK Group, is scheduled to open at some point in 2016. In addition to Alamo, it will feature an indoor/outdoor concert hall, large open-air plazas, and more than 20 restaurants and other entertainment venues.
