Guy Fieri cruises into Dallas for State Fair barbecue throwdown
Beloved Food Network star and restaurateur Guy Fieri is coming to Dallas for an in-person appearance at the State Fair of Texas.
The irrepressible Fieri will be in Dallas on October 11 to co-host a kids cooking contest, in association with Carnival Cruise Line, for whom Fieri does restaurant concepts that include a barbecue-themed place and a burger joint.
The always entertaining Fieri will co-host an event called "Carnival's Kids BBQ Challenge with Guy Fieri," taking place on Wednesday, October 11 at 4 pm on the Carnival Lido Deck Stage. Much Carnival.
Children from the local Texas 4-H organization will go head to head recreating their unique Texas BBQ dishes inspired by Fieri's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, which is located on several Carnival ships.
Local food and barbecue enthusiasts will judge the final dishes based on taste, creativity, and presentation. Will they get BBQ Snob? The winner will be awarded a free Carnival cruise.
The culinarily creative Fieri entered into a partnership with Carnival in 2011 with the opening of Guy's Burger Joint, featuring hand-crafted burgers and fries. Fieri has a burger stand concession in Dallas at the Starplex Pavilion, and is launching a one-of-a-kind flagship restaurant concept for the Texas Live complex in Arlington, opening in 2018.
At Pig & Anchor, the menu features pork butt, smoked round of beef, smoked Andouille sausage, and "Fieri's famous Blue Ribbon chicken." Sides include "mac daddy mac n cheese," "old skool potato salad," and collard greens. No catchy name for the greens?
Pig & Anchor made its debut in 2016 and can be found on Galveston based Carnival Breeze, where it was launched on the ship in May.
