A Star Returns
Dallas opens Mariah Carey’s first solo tour in a decade
Mariah Carey will launch her 2019 Caution World Tour — her first solo tour in the U.S. since 2010 — with a date in Dallas. The tour will kick off with a show at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving on February 27.
The tour will go to 22 cities in North America, including a stop in the Houston area on March 1. The tour is in support of Carey's new album, Caution, due out on November 16, her first new album since 2014. The singing icon who first hit it big in the early 1990s now is the best-selling female artist of all time, with more than 200 million albums sold to date and 18 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles to her name.
In recent years, if you wanted to see Carey perform, you had to be willing to travel. Each of her last three solo tours took place mainly in foreign countries, with her 2016 tour making a brief stop in Honolulu for three shows. She did "co-headline" a tour with Lionel Richie that made a stop in Dallas in 2017, but that tour was more Richie-focused than a showcase for Carey.
In lieu of touring, Carey has had a series of residencies in Las Vegas, including her current The Butterfly Returns show that will have several shows right before the tour kicks off in February.
