Utah-based Picklr to open McKinney's first dedicated pickleball venue
A national pickleball franchise is poised to serve up its first Dallas facility this summer. Called Picklr, it’ll open in McKinney at 2975 Craig Dr., taking over a former Bed Bath and Beyond store.
The facility will open in early June, according to a release. It’s part of a national expansion plan for the Picklr franchise, which is headquartered in Kaysville, Utah and has more than 250 facilities across multiple states.
Picklr has at least seven facilities planned in Texas; in March, the company announced plans to open a venue in Fort Worth’s White Settlement at the end of May. A company representative confirmed that the Fort Worth venue is still slated to open in May but declined to share where the other locations are going.
The new venue will be McKinney’s first facility exclusively dedicated to pickleball, although the city has a handful of tennis courts that can also be used for pickleball. The sport has recently exploded in popularity across North Texas and the county, but most of the new pickleball facilities storming the area have been concentrated in Dallas, Frisco, and Plano.
The McKinney venue will feature 10 indoor courts built with a 30-by-60-foot playing area, which is the professional standard for pickleball. The space will allow for league play, tournaments, and open play, and it’s meant to be welcoming to both pro and amateur players.
There will be coaching available for all ages and a pro equipment shop on site.
“There is no one bigger or better than The Picklr when it comes to indoor pickleball clubs, and we are thrilled to bring a first-class indoor pickleball facility to McKinney,” says Jeremy Scott, partner in Dallas Picklr Group. “The Picklr McKinney location has been designed with players in mind. Every detail in our club, from the black walls, lighting, court surface, fencing, sound clouds for noise reduction, lockers, showers, and lounge areas, has been scrutinized and implemented with the playing experience as our number one priority. This means that players in the club will have the best playing environment, the best visibility, and the best courts any of us have ever experienced.”
