The Village in Dallas debuts new pickleball-volleyball 2-in-1 venue
Dallas residential community The Village is joining the pickleball party, but with a little extra: a new concept called The Sandy Pickle, which offers a unique blend not only of pickleball but also sand volleyball. The volleyball is the extra.
Located at 5683 Village Glen Dr., the new venue will celebrate its grand opening on October 21, from 7 am to 12 am.
According to a release, the Sandy Pickle will feature six pickleball and six sand volleyball courts, two sports that have captivated the nation - providing an upscale alternative to public parks, with top-tier amenities and a social atmosphere.
Courts will be available for rental by the hour through PlayPoint at a rate of $40 during peak hours and $30 during non-peak hours. Referees will be available for league play. The Village will also integrate intramural and league programming. Patrons can book courts by visiting playsandypickle.playbypoint.com.
The design is a nostalgic retro-inspired nod to The Village's golfing legacy, featuring a patio area and viewing decks over the courts that are available spaces for private parties and celebrations. They'll also host unique programming and live entertainment.
The food will consist of an on-site food truck, also wrapped in a retro vibe, serving eats with a '70s drive-in twist, such as $7 burgers, Luscher’s hot dogs, and fried pickles. The beverage menu will also pays homage to the '70s with cocktails that include an Old Fashioned, Negroni, Aperol Spritz, French 75, and Gold Rush.
They'll be open for breakfast, with coffee, juice, and mimosas.
The Sandy Pickle will expand upon the success of The Village Golf Club as the existing putting greens and tiki bar will remain, and will now include a new sand trap, transforming the golfing experience. The existing golf simulator with its official PGA practice course serve as distinctive dimensions to The Village’s golf offerings in addition to the original 18-hole putting course on-site.
