Have you made a list and checked it twice yet? If not, GiftingMap is here to help. The shopping site curated by CultureMap has rounded up the most sophisticated presents around, many of which are handcrafted and come with Texas ties.

Not only that, we've curated the items into collections to make shopping even easier. This time we're looking at gifts for the men in your life, and highlighting a few of our favorite picks below. Want to see more? Shop the rest of the collection online.

    Assouline Whiskey Cocktails book
A go-to tome for amateur bartenders and cocktail connoisseurs alike, this 140-page book collects recipes from America's top mixologists and frames it against the knowledge of expert Brian Van Flandern. Trace the spirit's roots throughout America and the world and feast your eyes on full-color pictures from such legendary New York City bars as The Brandy Library, Dead Rabbit Bar, and McSorleys.

Baccarat decanter and whiskey highball glasses
Elevate cocktail hour with this elegant set, which telegraphs to guests that their host is a worldly man of taste. While liquor doesn't need to be decanted in the way wine does, it doesn't hurt to present your spirits in a more impressive manner, and barware from arguably the world's best crystal maker is sure to do that.

Bird Dog Bay tie, cufflinks, and briefcase
Each whimsical, often animal-themed, design is hand-drawn by founder Steve Mayer, who vowed to create products that married classic style with high-quality design. The leather goods are made with Texas steer hide, while the ties are 100-percent silk twill, hand-printed, and hand-made. The outdoor theme makes itself known with the company's 12 gauge brass cufflinks, the perfect gift for an avid sportsman.

    Brackish bow ties
Co-founder Ben Ross crafted bow ties made from turkey feathers for his groomsmen in 2007, and a decade later the stylish accessories have become a highly sought-after finishing touch for well-dressed gentlemen wanting to make an impression. The feathers are all-natural and sustainably sourced and are handcrafted in Charleston.

    Corkcicle Whiskey Wedge
Hello whiskey, goodbye watered-down. This is the artful way to perfectly chill, but not water down, your favorite spirits. During freezing, the ice forms a wedge shape on one side of the glass, so when you pour a drink the wedge melts slowly to helps retain your drink's full favor.

    Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses
A true American classic, these sunnies set the standard. Whether he's the type that's always misplacing his specs and needs a backup or is just in need of his first pair, you can't go wrong with the original.

    Sugarfina Vice collection
What's the one thing that could make candy better? Booze. The luxury candy company combines these two indulgences into delectable desserts like Bourbon Bears, Single Malt Scotch Cordials, Pale Ale Pints, and Martini Olive Almonds. But these treats are safe for the teetotaler, as they don't contain any actual alcohol.

    RETAIL APOCALYPSE

Mall favorite Francesca's to close all stores in Dallas and nationwide

Francesca's is known for its boho-chic dresses and tops.

After a decade of falling fortunes, Texas-based women’s clothing chain Francesca’s is clearing out all its racks. The once-mighty retailer is closing all of its stores nationwide, including several locations in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Although the company has not made any official pronouncement, Women’s Wear Daily reports that the brand is currently in the process of liquidating all of its inventory. According to the fashion industry trade journal, some employees are reporting that they were let go without warning, while vendors are allegedly seeking payment on hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid invoices.

Francesca’s was founded in Houston in 1999, becoming sought out for its boho-chic offerings that occupied a similar lane to Anthropologie. Over roughly 15 years, it quickly ramped up its footprint, peaking at over 600 locations by 2016.

That explosive growth did not prove to be popular with shareholders. That same year, the Wall Street Journal reported that its stock prices had plunged to their lowest price since Francesca’s went public in 2011. Despite leadership changes, the chain has been on a downward slope since.

In 2020, Francesca’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection while it sought a buyer for its online operation and brick-and-mortar stores. The chain closed almost 250 of its storefronts by early 2021.

After completing reorganization and being bought out of bankruptcy by an affiliate of TerraMar Capital and Tiger Capital Group, Francesca’s attempted a revival by launching a tween line, Franki by Francesca’s, and gobbling up celebrity-endorsed lifestyle brand Richer Poorer.

Francesca's still had Dallas-Fort Worth stores in West Village, Galleria Dallas, Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, Firewheel Town Center in Garland, The Shops at Legacy in Plano, The Shops at Highland Village, Southlake Town Square, NorthEast Mall, Arlington Highlands, Glade Park in Euless, and Sundance Square and The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.

It’s unclear exactly when the local stores will shutter, but the company recently changed its return policy to state all sales are final after January 14. A request to Francesca’s corporate headquarters for comment was not immediately returned.
