Bachelor bride Catherine Lowe turns passion for love notes into heartfelt business
She won the heart of Dallas heartthrob Sean Lowe on ABC’s The Bachelor with the help of her clever little love notes. Now Mrs. Catherine Lowe has turned her affinity into a business called C. Lowe by Scarlet & Gold, a collection of cards and accessories adorned with cute phrases penned by the Bachelor bride herself.
After leaving Seattle and her job as a visual designer at Amazon to join her hubby in Dallas, Catherine knew there had to be a way to marry her passion for design and her new love for, well, love. After online print shop Scarlet & Gold helped the happy couple with post-nuptial thank you cards, Catherine knew she’d found the perfect partner for her endeavor.
“I’ve always been so obsessed with design and wit, so when I met Scarlet & Gold owner Megan Smalley and I understood how our relationship could make a business out of my passions, I was immediately on board,” Catherine says.
The collection includes Lowe Notes (see what they did there) and accessories adorned with phrases such as “Imma Smack You Right In The Kisser.”
The collection includes Lowe Notes (see what they did there), placemats, notebooks and iPhone cases. Each Lowe Note is $2.50; variety packs range from $4.50-$10.50, featuring 3-by-3 folded cards with sayings like “Imma Smack You Right In The Kisser” and “My Heart Got Beats For You Like A Rap Song.” Placemats are $14, notebooks are $18 and iPhone cases are $35.
All of the items are inspired by her time fighting for that final rose on The Bachelor, when she’d sneak clever notes into Sean’s pocket with phrases that left him smiling, blushing and unable to forget her. (I seem to recall one about being vegan but still liking the meat.)
Scarlet & Gold brings together like-minded, creative women from all over the country who are passionate about spreading positive words and pretty products. Catherine says that although she is the woman behind the words, she has a first-class team that helps make her products shine.
“Most designs started with a sketch by me, but I give a ton of credit to the designers, because they take my verbiage and bring it to life,” Catherine says. “I have final sign-off, but rarely do I have any edits. They’re talented magicians!”
The C. Lowe collection already is selling out faster than they can reprint. Catherine and her crew are still doing their homework to ensure there is enough lasting interest out there, but as of now, the future looks pretty bright.
“C. Lowe is still fresh out of the oven — only 4 months old — and we definitely have wholesale on our minds,” she says. “Quality control of product and system is very important to us, so when we are ready, we’ll shout it from the rooftops. Spoiler alert: think January 2015.”
Catherine will be at Milk & Honey Boutique for a mixer on August 21, 7-9 pm, and she is planning a C. Lowe by Scarlet & Gold launch party in Dallas for the near future. We will share the details as soon as they are ironed out.
She’s also a part of our Love Local Giveaway and has teamed up with other local business owners to give away a $100 C. Lowe by Scarlet & Gold gift card.
