Real Estate Accolades
CultureMap contributor Candy Evans takes gold for best U.S. real estate blog
On June 8, the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) announced the winners of its 63rd annual journalism awards. NAREE recognizes excellence in reporting, writing and editing stories about residential and commercial real estate.
Regular CultureMap Dallas contributor and Candy’s Dirt founder Candy Evans took home gold for best blog. “This is a sassy look at some of the most expensive housing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” said the judges. “The writing is breezy without being flippant.”
A panel of expert judges from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, led by professor Patrick S. Washburn, selected winners in 25 print and online categories, ranging from breaking news and investigative reports to home and design feature and and overall website.
Judges handed out gold, silver and bronze awards to journalists from Reuters, Seattle Times, Denver Post, and Bloomberg News, among many others. In fact, Ralph Bivins, a regular contributor to CultureMap Houston, took home the bronze in the category for best commercial real estate report.
Said the judges: “This breaking news article focused on the purchase of the Exxon Mobil tower in Houston. It is a great example of an explanatory story that shows the possible ramifications of a purchase of this magnitude.”
