East Dallas cottage appears destined for multiple offers
Dave Perry-Miller Realtor Scott Kaserman thought the sale on his East Dallas listing at 6051 Penrose Ave. was a done deal when the sellers received multiple offers. But the contract fell through because the buyer got cold feet.
Although bad news for the current owners (at least for a minute), that’s good news for buyers hoping to land a home in a sought-after neighborhood — near Greenville Avenue and White Rock Lake — for less than $450,000. The price on this three-bed, two-bath cottage is $435,000.
A September 6 open house likely will result in multiple offers again, so we can’t promise by the time you read this the home will still be on the market. But so it goes with Dallas real estate these days.
Built in 1939, the house has 1,506 square feet and loads of personality. Think delightful curb appeal with mature trees and landscaping, arched interior doorways, hardwood floors, renovated kitchen and bathrooms, and lots of natural light.
The front living room has a fireplace and built-in bookshelves, and the entire house is freshly panted in a soothing neutral palette. The hardwood floors — at the top of most buyers’ wish lists — have been recently refinished. The home is staged beautifully to show both function and style.
The kitchen has been renovated to include stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, freshly painted cabinetry, and a stone backsplash. Counter space and storage are not problems in here.
Two of the three bedrooms have hardwoods, and all have good-sized closets and windows. From the master, French doors lead to the outdoor deck, making it easy to enjoy your morning coffee outdoors before you tackle the day.
That deck — designed for entertaining — overlooks the grassy yard, where little kids and pets have plenty of room to play.
