Lakewood now has its very own neighborhood barbecue joint
The quaint hamlet of Lakewood gets its own barbecue restaurant on January 7 when Lakewood Smokehouse opens its doors for dinner.
This is the long-planned place opening in the spot at 1901 Abrams Rd. that was previously Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill. It comes from Jason Hall, who owns 3 Stacks Smoke & Tap House in Frisco, with partners John Pantenburg and Mike Mullen, who've been friends and co-workers in the restaurant industry for 20 years.
Lakewood Smokehouse will serve your prototypical barbecue fare including brisket, smoked turkey, ribs, and sausage as well as classic barbecue sides such as macaroni and cheese, fried okra, green beans, and potato salad.
The experience will compare with 3 Stacks, but with a few exciting additions, notably that Lakewood Smokehouse will be a full-service restaurant, unlike the casual line-service most barbecue establishments employ.
Lakewood Smokehouse will enhance the menu with seasonal specials and use top-of-the-line local purveyors including Rudolph’s Market for the sausages and Empire Baking Co. for breads. A full bar will feature 20 Texas breweries on tap.
Hall says in a release that they're thrilled to be in Lakewood.
"Our team was drawn to the sense of community that makes Lakewood special and we can’t wait become a part of the fabric of the neighborhood," he says.
