Food events took a little break over the holidays, but they are back, and so are we — back and ready conquer the 2020 food event scene. There are lots of classes to help fulfill New Year's resolutions this week. Learn to cook plant-based meals, soups, sushi, French macarons, and even stuffed French toast.
Tuesday, January 7
Plant-based Cooking Class at Nature's Plate
Learn one of the most important parts of meal prep — staples and sauces — at this cooking class with Nature's Plate. The class will teach you how to make quinoa, roasted rosemary potatoes, nacho cheese, cheese sauce, lemon tahini dressing, ranch dressing, and lime cilantro dressing. Post demo, the class will put together bowls and eat together. You will also leave with copies of the recipes. Class is BYOB. Tickets are $65 and class starts at 6 pm.
Sushi at Home Class at Sur La Table Knox District
This class guides guests through the sushi-making process. From selecting the freshest fish to learning how to make seasoned rice and even dipping sauces, this is the best way to get rolling on making your own sushi. Tickets are $89 and the class starts at 6:30 pm.

Make & Take: Soup's On! at Central Market Midway
Work in teams to sharpen the skills necessary to make delicious winter soups. The best news? Participants can take home two servings of each soup. This class will be making sherried squash soup with spiced pepitas; miso noodle soup with edamame; poblano albondigas with ancho Chile; and chicken, escarole, and white bean. Tickets are $80 and the class starts at noon.

French Macaron Class at Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie
This class is casual and fun yet informative. The pastry chefs provide each guest with hands-on experience making pastries. Guests will leave with a box of their own creations and will be served light refreshments. This class is BYOB. Tickets are $80 and the class starts at 3 pm.
Design District Brewery Tour starting at Peticolas Brewing Company
Explore The Metroplex's more than 70 breweries and brewpubs with Texas Beer Tours. This tour includes four brewery visits, three flights and three beers, and a look into both small-batch and large-scale brewing operations. Tours could include Community Beer Company, Pegasus City Brewing, Peticolas Brewing Company, Steam Theory Brewing, or Texas Ale Project. Tickets are $75 and the tour starts at noon.

Stuffed French Toast Cooking Class at Panther Island Brewing
Yes, this one is way over in Fort Worth, but it was too yummy not to include. Join Golden Apron and Chef Na'Tori for a couple of cocktails and a tutorial on how to craft stuffed French toast. There is no cooking experience necessary, and you can be as hands on or off as you please. Tickets are $49 and the class kicks off at 7 pm.
