Fish Market on the Move
TJ's Seafood Market takes its lobster rolls south to Preston Royal
Popular TJ's Seafood Market is headed south: It'll move from its Preston Forest location into the space at Preston Royal that was recently vacated by Purple Cow.
Owners Jon and Natalie Alexis made the announcement via a letter to their customers.
"TJ's is proud to be a 25-year Preston Hollow institution," Jon says. "That's not bragging — TJ's was already a part of the neighborhood when my family bought it. Don't forget — we were customers, just like you, for 10 years!"
Acknowledging the spin-off they opened on Oak Lawn, Jon says, "Some of our longtime customers have been a little jealous of the new Oak Lawn seafood market/restaurant combination model. Oak Lawn was merely the test run for the new Preston Hollow flagship TJ's at Preston Royal."
The opening is scheduled for late summer/early fall. The space will feature a new fish case, 80 seats in the dining room and a full bar. The new branch will offer more traditional table service, as opposed to ordering at the fish counter at Oak Lawn.
The menu will be similar to Oak Lawn's, with a daily selection of fresh fish, shrimp cocktail, lobster rolls, Maryland-style crab cakes and seafood soups. There will also be some new menu items, as well as a "fun" wine list, cocktails and happy hour specials, cooking classes, party platters, full-service catering, and more variety in the fish case to take home.
At the bottom of the letter, there's a postscript addressed to "Media members," advising that they'll receive a more formal press release with detailed info. "This is a personal letter to our customers; we wanted them to hear the news from us before reading it elsewhere." OK, fine TJ's! Be that way.
