    While we encourage you to spend your Memorial Day weekend out grilling with friends and drinking a cold one, why wait till then? If you can't wait to get the party started, Dallas has no shortage of food and drink events happening this week, plus a quintessential Memorial Day event featuring one of Dallas' most revered chefs.

    Tuesday, May 21

    Les Cocktails: Spring Edition at The French Room
    The Adolphus Hotel's sultry and sophisticated bar recently debuted a refreshed menu of seasonal spring cocktails. To celebrate these new additions, guests are invited to try out the new menu and learn how to make a few of the cocktails with the help of lead bartender Angela Burns. Bubbles will be served upon arrival, and light bites will be available throughout the event. Tickets are $45, and the event starts at 6 pm.

    Simi Wine & Food Dinner at Sevy's Grill
    Enjoy a paired dinner featuring this prestigious winery from Sonoma County. From nuanced Cabs to elegant Chards, regional manager Chris Teague takes you through each wine and shares insightful stories of the storied winery. Courses include wood-fired Spanish octopus; prosciutto wrapped Texas rabbit porchetta; 40-day, dry-aged ribeye; and Valrhona chocolate black rice pudding. Tickets are $93, and the evening kicks off at 6:30 pm. Call 214-265-7389 to reserve your spot.

    Wednesday, May 22

    Patios, Wines, and Cheese and at Scardello Artisan Cheese
    It's starting to feel a lot like summer, and what better way to celebrate than with some cool rosé and crisp white wines? Sip to your heart's delight and learn which wines and cheeses pair best at this class. Tickets are $40, and the class starts at 7 pm. Hurry, few seats remain.

    Thursday, May 23

    Buffalo Trace Pairing Dinner at Whiskey Cake Las Colinas
    You do not want to miss this restaurant's first pairing dinner featuring whiskey from Buffalo Trace. Courses include Kampachi crudo, Southern cucumber salad, sorghum-rye glazed duck wings, lemongrass braised beef rib, and cinnamon roll pancakes. Tickets are $75, and the event starts at 7 pm.     Plano Magazine Beer Walk at The Shops at Willow Bend
    More than 30 beers and craft breweries from Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma will be on hand at this event that features shopping, live music, pop-up vendors, and more. Participants grab a collectible glass and sampling map and then stroll through the shopping center to sample craft brews, meet brewers, and learn about different pours at 12-plus stops. Tickets start at $14, and the event kicks off at 5:30 pm.

    Monday, May 27

    Spring Barbecue Bash at Fearing's Restaurant
    The Fearing's Restaurant team presents an afternoon of barbecue at the restaurant’s Live Oak Bar and Ocaso space. Tickets are $95, and admission includes access to the outdoor area, two specialty cocktails, live music from country singer Hayden Haddock, games, and plenty of chef Dean Fearing’s food. The Memorial Day fun kicks off at noon.

    Downtown Dallas restaurant Sauvage expands with new dining twist

    A downtown Dallas restaurant famous for its multi-course tasting experience is letting its hair down: Sauvage, the high-end mom-and-pop restaurant near the Statler Dallas hotel, has a new dining option that gives a smaller, more casual taste.

    The restaurant opened in September with a set menu featuring 16 to 18 courses — wild game, seafood, vegetables, and dessert — all cooked via grill and smoker.

    While 16 courses might sound like a lot, the courses are mostly small bites. However, owners Casey and Amy LaRue received feedback from diners wanting a smaller option.

    "We were getting a ton of messages from guests who want to stop by just to try one dish, a bite, or a specific pairing without committing to the full tasting — so we built something for exactly that," Casey says.

    They've introduced a new three-course "Cocktails & Bites hour" featuring three dishes, each paired with its own cocktail, served from 5–6 pm on weekdays.

    Last week’s menu consisted of:

    • dry-aged red snapper crudo with La Chinola Way, a cocktail featuring passionfruit, mezcal, lime, and ginger
    • foie gras & truffle on house-baked croissant with Pendennis Club, a gin sour with apricot liqueur bitters
    • jerk-spiced shrimp with Clarified Paper Plane, a bourbon cocktail with Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice

    The new offering continues their pattern of pairing courses with cocktails rather than wine — an approach they've embraced since opening. "Limiting pairings to wine can get boring — it so often ends up being one expensive red after another," Casey says.

    You can make a reservation on Tock, or just walk in and grab a seat.

    Caviar
    They've also added a new version of their classic menu: no caviar.

    "Some love having caviar integrated into the menu, but others prefer to skip it, whether for taste or dietary reasons, but still want the full value of the experience," Casey says. "With such a small counter, this put us in a strange position: do we give everyone caviar whether they want it or not, or do we remove it entirely and lose a core part of our menu?"

    Thus, a new menu without caviar, priced at $195, with an optional caviar course available for those who want it for $245.
